Extreme Cold Rolling as a Means of Nanostructured Multilayer Laminate Synthesis
Description
Top panel shows the nanostructured laminate. Bottom panels show the bilayer structures. At bilayer spacing < 100 nm, strengths of these laminates exceed 800 MPa, approaching the strength of high strength low alloy steels.

Using extreme cold rolling, nanostructured bulk multilayer laminates levels are fabricated at the department of metallurgical engineering. The innovation demonstrates that an effective continuous nanostructured material manufacturing technique is possible
Implications
Potential applications include metallic laminate sheet metals having unconventional combinations of mechanical and physical properties for use in sheet metal components of automotive and aerospace industries.
