Ordering of liquid molecules and nanoparticle suspensions
Description
Use of AFM reveals ordering of finite elements of fluid at short separations between surfaces. Usually from 3 to 5 molecular (or particulate) layers extending from the surface can be observed.
Implications
Structure of liquid and nanoparticle suspensions in confined geometries is an important issue in nanofluidics, CMP applications and other applications where nanoparticle slurries are employed.
